Betta Fish - Bubblenesters
Habitat: usually stagnant waters, oftentimes they will inhabit swampy waters which includes small dams, lakes, creeks, streams, and asian rice patties
Behavior: Male Betta fish create "bubblenests" to support the females eggs.
Size: Approximately 1 inche (part of the coccina group) to almost 3 inches in length (part of the splendens group)

Betta Fish - Mouthbrooders
Behavior: Not considered as aggressive as the Betta Splendens. Interestingly, the males Betta stores the females eggs in his throat.
Habitat: mostly creeks, small reedy pools, mudy riverbanks and streams
Size: Will grow anywhere from up to 5.5 inches in length, but it all depends on the size of the group. Keep in mind that picta can often be very small in size.
