Betta Fish Pugnax
The Pugnax Betta fish is a much bigger Betta and has a much thicker body than most of the Betta splendens.
Betta Pugnax can be easily distinguished by its elongated ventral flowing fins.
It also has bright blue iridescent patches over their head area, and also around the area of their larger gills.
Both the male and the female have the very pronounced spiked-tail.
It is genuinely considered to be an extension of its long middle rays in the fish's caudal.
Watching Betta Pugnax spawn is exciting and interesting at the same time.
The male Betta Pugnax stores the female eggs in his mouth (and, throat) for up to seven days until there is signs of the eggs hatching.
The interesting thing that happens during this time period is that the female guards over the male to ensure him protection and a tranquil state while he is looking after the eggs.
The Pugnax Is Part of The Family:
Betta Breviobesus
Betta Enisae
Betta Fusca
Betta Pulchra
Betta Schalleri
