Betta Fish Akarensis 2
Betta fish specie known as akarensis.
It is a smaller version of Betta which shows some unique lines specially in males and prominate lines mostly are highlighted in females especially during spawning.
While at the time of spawning the lines males will dissipate considerably. Some of the male Bettas will exhibit a green iridescence around the gills section, and this is commonly known as "operculum."
Usually one or more lines will start at the Bettas mouth and run all of the way to the flowing tail even running through a Bettas eye.
There's usually two others on the lower side of its body and also on the dorsal fin area as well.
Highly Adaptable In Nature
These Bettas are usually highly adaptable in nature, and more than able to live very comfortably in water areas with a hardness of approximately 80ppm, and with a pH level of about 7.0. Also they may be found in water ranges with in hardness of approximately 30 to 200ppm and with a pH level of 6.0 or greater.
When the male Bettas are ready to spawn, you will always notice a diminishing of the Bettas prominence of their stripes and lines which signifies lots of changes in his physiological and especially in its disposition.
Usually it's a male who is aggressive one but at this time he becomes quite timid and shy.
It's interesting to note that the spawning process is a series of quick embraces, and you will see the female Betta wrap herself tightly around a male. Generally speaking, it usually takes a number of embraces before the female Betta produces any eggs.
Keeps The Eggs In His Mouth
The male Betta fish then stores all of the eggs in his mouth, after which another close embrace goes on between the two love fish.
These loving embraces can even go on for up to half a day or more. Sfter which the male leaves the female and retreats to his own corner of the pond, ect.
The interesting thing though, is that the female stands guard over the male at this time. The male stores the eggs for in his mouth for about ten days then quite suddenly will release all of the eggs. These eggs by now have matured into baby fish named fry. After a couple of months have gone by, the fry will grow anywhere up to a full inch in length.
Other names for this specie are: Akar Betta, Betta climacura, Ladder-Fined Betta, Ladder Mouthbroode and Sarawak Betta.
