plaque - A flat plate, slab, or tablet that is ornamented or engraved for mounting, as on a wall for decoration, or inserted into a piece of furniture; or on a monument for information. A plaque is typically of a rectangular, oval or other regular form. When ceramic, a plaque might be described as a thick tile.
