Making generalizations about the visual culture of any group of people is a crude endeavor, especially with a culture as diverse as Denmark's. With this thought in mind, know that this survey, as any must be, is tremendously limited in its breadth and depth.

Christen Købke (Danish, 1810-1848), View of Dosseringen, in the Foreground a Group of Reeds (Parti ved Dosseringen, I forgrunden en sivgruppe), c. 1837, oil on paper, 24.2 x 27.8 cm, Ordrupgaard, Denmark. One of Eckersberg's pupils, Købke is noted as one of the finest of Denmark's plein air painters.
