Sixteen year old Australian sailor, Jessica Watson has achieved something this land-lover can only marvel at. The thought of circum-navigating the world on a travel adventure is surely present but to undertake this by sea and alone, there is absolutely no appeal in it at all! Consequently, when I stop to think of the 210 days Jessica spent aboard the small, pink boat named ‘Ella’s Pink Lady’, I can’t help but imagine what she has encountered. Large swells, storms, isolation, darkness, mechanical issues and all to be toughed out alone – what an amazing young women she is!
Jessica sailed into Sydney Harbour on Saturday 15th May to a hero’s welcome home. A huge supportive crowd had gathered to share in her achievement. Jessica later spoke humbly and articulately to the crowds and media cameras, of not being a hero but simply an ordinary girl who had a dream and her (brave) parents, allowing and supporting her to do this. For more of Jessica’s story READ HERE.

Wishing You a Happy, Safe Holiday and Festive Season
TravelTipsPlus.com would like to take the time to wish everyone, the world over, a very happy and safe holiday season. We understand there are differing celebrations depending where you are in the world and where your cultural background lie. Your location can also vary the length of holiday season you experience.
We are particulary thinking of our friends in Europe and on the east coast of America that have been hit by harsh winter conditions during the past week and making it almost impossible for them to get to their travel destinations.

Here in Australia we are about to celebrate our festive season and summer holidays. The school children will enjoy a good 5-6 week break and many families take the opportunity to have a summer holiday. Many flock to the popular beaches or large river systems that offer swimming, relaxing and many water activities.

So, images of Christmas trees covered in snow and foggy windows donned with decorations are quite foreign here in Australia. No matter where you are this Holiday Season of 2009, enjoy it with your families, stay safe and all the best for a healthy, prosperous 2010.
Please leave a comment telling of your where abouts and what your Holiday Season plans are.

Earlier this year Katy, the Community Manager of ‘Where I’ve Been’ initiated #traveltuesday. You will see that Katy has a huge following on Twitter which has made #traveltuesday a great success and a highlight for many on Twitter.
The concept is not unlike #followfriday but for the travel-minded. The day is a hive of activity adding the #traveltuesday hashtag and a reason for your recommendation of fellow travel tweeps. The hashtag also gets added to tweets of particular interest, so those that undertake a #traveltuesday search will find not only industry tweeps but also interesting links, blogs and the like.
For those new to #traveltuesday here is a list of some of my favourite travel tweeps to get you started;
