Mealtime For Betta Fish

Betta Fish Care - Beta Fish

There's 3 small words you should remember when feeding your Betta fish.

(1) Picky (2) Varied (3) Sparingly.

Keep in mind that there's some types of betta grub which is rich in protein. While others it's much less.

Other types of food can be more nutritious for your Betta than mainstream foods while some types and brands of food can even bring about fish digestive problems. A good thing to keep in mind is that Betta fish don't thrive on fish pellets alone.

Variety of food is the key.

Feeding you Betta a food which is close to their more natural diet will help your Betta pet to thrive. Follow this advice and you're guaranteed to have a more active, more vibrant, more colorful, more healthier, and more alive Betta.

You can tell if your Bettas are healthy because they'll go crazy and wild at feeding time.

To accomplish this, and see your Betta pet go wild at feeding time, you should... rotate bloodworms, pellet fish food and frozen brine shrimp.

Of copurse, this all depends on wether your Betta fish collaborates and actually does eat the food that you've given it. If it doesn't then it'll become a trial and error thing when it comes to feeding time.

Try a mixture of feeze dried, insect larvae, frozen worms, and ocean crustaceans to find out what your Betta pet will eat.

Key Point: Implement a day where you allow your Betta to fast.

This will gives your Betta fish an opportunity to clear its digestive system and retain a good healty state.

What about plants?

Living plants are the best for Bettas. But watch that the plant doesn't die because it'll increase the bio load and in no time at all affect quality of the water which inturn creates bacteria and fungus.

So, keeping this in mind you may wish to introduce more safe plants such as silk plants. This is not the natural choice but may be a far better choice to protect the health and life of your Bettas.

In conclusion: Betta fish (siamese fighting fish) are one of the less demanding of all tropical fish but Bettas do need sufficient space, a properly installed filter and heater to make sure the water environment is correct.

Remember that regular water changes and feeding your Bettas a variety of different foods (not just dry fish pellets) will give your Bettas a fighting chance to thrive.

Key Point: It's a good idea if you print a copy of this checklist, and place it close to your Betta tank or bowl. You can then refer to it when needed. This checklist is a way of providing your pet Betta with the proper care it needs.
